Dalton Maag have been prolific in 2008 and the latest family off the production line is Cordale, a very legible modern serif brimming with contemporary character. This follows their brand new grotesk, Effra. Duncan Rogers has created Overlap, another inspirational display face released through his Image Daddy vehicle and Lucasfonts continue their quest to keep Thesis out in front as the largest super family known to man with the addition of the ultra fine TheSans Hair in OpenType.

5.11.08 /  Birmingham Post series

Fontworks is producing 4 radical double page type spreads for the Birmingham Post newspaper to coincide with the Plus design festival in the city. Featured designers will be Nick Cooke (G-Type), Darren Scott, Identikal and Christian Küsters (Acmefonts). Each designer will use his own fonts and the brief is to break the typical newspaper layout mould. PDFs available to view soon.

  24.9.08 / Two new ShinnType OT families

	Duffy Script, a new 4 weight informal script, is Nick Shinn’s interpretation of the lettering of illustrator Amanda Duffy, a.k.a. Loser Girl. Each font contains four glyphs for each character (including all numbers, punctuation, and symbols); these are coded as Contextual Alternates to set in a pseudo-random order, for a subtle, natural effect.
	Shinn’s elegant workhorse Beaufort now boasts extended language support and a wide range of OpenType features, such as small caps, fractions, and a variety of figure styles. Beaufort Pro, stylish and legible, has five weights and accompanying italics.

21.8.08 / G-Type's Morpeth unveiled

Nick Cooke's ever popular G-Type foundry have just released their latest OpenType family, the legible condensed sans face Morpeth, originally devised for Morpeth Town Council's wayfinding system. 14.7.08 / Magpie lands at Dalton Maag!

Vinnie Connare, whose dubious honour it is to be the man responsible for Comic Sans, goes some way to redeeming himself with the unveiling of his new release for Dalton Maag. Magpie is a quirky condensed serif in Regular, Bold & Italic styles and it was the italic's cursive qualities which provided the backdrop for the roman designs.

24.6.08 / ClubType lower OTF prices

Adrian Williams' respected UK foundry ClubType have lowered the price of their OpenType Std fonts to 18.95 GBP each (previously 24.95 GBP per style), which is great news if you're in the market for a stylish new text face such as Congress Sans. In other news, CT's popular Mercurius family has been renamed simply, er, ClubType!

Luc[as] de Groot's mighty Corpid typeface, a fine choice for Corporate or publishing environments, now boasts a brand new Semi Condensed set to add to the Standard and Condensed widths. The three sub-families come as OpenType fonts in a range of five weights, from Light to Black. All family members come with small caps and include a CE character set. What's more, the E1 versions also cover Greek and Cyrillic for perfect pan-European typesetting.
