Dalton Maag have been prolific in 2008 and the latest family off the production line is Cordale, a very legible modern serif brimming with contemporary character. This follows their brand new grotesk, Effra. Fontworks is producing 4 radical double page type spreads for the Birmingham Post newspaper to coincide with the Plus design festival in the city. Featured designers will be Nick Cooke (G-Type), Darren Scott, Identikal and Christian Küsters (Acmefonts). duffy script  Duffy Script, a new 4 weight informal script, is Nick Shinn’s interpretation of the lettering of illustrator Amanda Duffy, a.k.a. Loser Girl.

Each font contains four glyphs for each character (including all numbers, punctuation, and symbols); these are coded as Contextual Alternates to set in a pseudo-random order, for a subtle, natural effect.
 Beaufort Pro

Shinn’s elegant workhorse Beaufort now boasts extended language support and a wide range of OpenType features, such as small caps, fractions, and a variety of figure styles.

Beaufort Pro, stylish and legible, has five weights and accompanying italics.

Vinnie Connare, whose dubious honour it is to be the man responsible for Comic Sans, goes some way to redeeming himself with the unveiling of his new release for Dalton Maag. Magpie is a quirky condensed serif in Regular, Bold & Italic styles and it was the italic's cursive qualities which provided the backdrop for the roman designs.
